State Route 6 is part of Maine's system of numbered state highways, running from the Quebec border in Sandy Bay Township, to the New Brunswick border in Vanceboro. Route 6 is 207.6 miles (334.1 km) long and is the only highway in the state to both begin and end at the Canadian border.
Most of Route 6 runs concurrently with other highways, such as U.S. Route 201, Route 15, Route 16, Route 155 and U.S. Route 2. The only section of the highway where Route 6 is not concurrent with another route is east of Lincoln, to the New Brunswick border. Except for this section, locals generally refer to the roads by their other numbers.
